Steeped in history including the involvement of early resistance of the opposition of Britain which led to the Revolutionary War, the city of Malden recognized the time was ripe to rebuild its city hall into modern glory. The original building for the project, which was built in the 1970s, featured heavy metal structures and framework that were to be softened in design with the use of certain wood species. Continental worked with the contractor to build out the interior main lobby, Herbert L. Jackson  Council Chambers and the mayor’s office.

The interior across the building, and in these three areas in particular, showcase walnut paneling in both the wall and ceiling with hemlock and eucalyptus accents for a traditional New England look augmented by contemporary influence. Working alongside other millwork companies involved in this buildout, it was imperative for the Continental team to ensure the highest quality in their woodwork for the three spaces. In both the lobby and council chamber, the paneled walls and ceiling incorporate acoustic technology to help trap and deaden sound within.
